This Privacy Policy explains what information Barnes Metalcrafters, Inc., doing business as Mountains2Metal (“Mountains2Metal,” “M2M,” “we,” “us” or “our”), collects through mountains2metal.com (the “Website”) and our text messaging program, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. Our Terms and Conditions also apply.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us.
- Orders and checkout: your name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, the products you buy, order comments and payment details. Card details are entered on our secure checkout and handled by our payment processors, Authorize.Net and PayPal; we do not store full card numbers.
- Customer accounts: your name, email address, password, phone number, saved addresses, order history and wish lists.
- Contact forms: our Contact Us form asks for your email address, first and last name, phone number, order number, company name and your question, and lets you subscribe to our newsletter. The contact form on our Shipping & Returns page asks for similar information.
- Custom order requests: our custom order form asks for your name, email address, phone number, truck make and model, the custom text or design you want, and any comments.
- Newsletter: your email address and, if you give them, your name and phone number.
- Product reviews: your name, email address, rating and review. Shopper Approved may also ask you to review your purchase after you order.
- Text messages: your mobile number, your consent and the messages you exchange with us.
- Calls, emails and other contact: whatever you choose to share with us.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Website, our ecommerce platform and the third-party tools listed below may collect your IP address, browser and device type, the pages and products you view, items you add to your cart, purchases, the time and date of your visit, the page or ad that referred you, and similar usage information, using cookies, pixels and similar technologies.
2. How we use your information
- To process and ship your orders, handle returns and exchanges, and send order and shipping updates.
- To run your account and respond to your questions and custom order requests.
- To send our newsletter and offers, if you signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
- To send text messages, if you opted in (see section 3).
- To ask for and display product reviews.
- To understand how the Website is used and to improve it and our products.
- To show our ads to existing and prospective customers, and to measure and improve our advertising (see section 5).
- To protect the Website and our customers from spam, fraud and abuse.
- To comply with the law, keep business and tax records, and enforce our agreements.
3. Text messaging (SMS)
We use your mobile number and consent only to run our text messaging program and to serve you as a customer. We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number or SMS opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except service providers (such as Mailchimp, which sends our text messages, and mobile carriers) that deliver messages on our behalf.
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. See our Terms and Conditions for the full program terms.
4. Third-party services we use
The Website uses the following services, which may collect information about your visit under their own privacy policies:
- BigCommerce, which hosts our store, accounts, cart and checkout, and stores order and customer information.
- Authorize.Net and PayPal, which process card, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments at checkout. If you pay with PayPal, PayPal's own privacy policy also applies.
- USPS and UPS, which receive your name, shipping address and, where needed, phone number to deliver your order.
- ShipperHQ, which uses your cart contents and shipping address to calculate shipping rates at checkout, and Ordoro, which we use to manage orders and print shipping labels and which receives your order and shipping details.
- TikTok Shop, if you buy our products there. TikTok’s own terms and privacy policy apply to those purchases, and your order and shipping details are passed to us (through connector services from CedCommerce and TikConnect) so we can fulfill the order.
- Route, which provides optional shipping protection and package tracking and receives your order details when you choose it.
- Shopper Approved, which collects and displays customer reviews and may email you after a purchase to ask for one.
- Mailchimp, which sends our emails and text messages, stores newsletter signups and receives messages from the contact form on our Shipping & Returns page. It may receive customer and order information from our store so we can send relevant emails.
- GoAffPro, which runs our affiliate program and tracks visits and orders that come from affiliate links.
- Google Forms, which receives and stores custom order requests.
- Our Contact Us form, which is hosted on barnesmetal.com, a website also operated by Barnes Metalcrafters, Inc., and sends your message to us by email.
- Google reCAPTCHA, to protect our contact form from spam. Its use is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
- Cloudflare, to deliver the Website securely and protect it from bots and attacks.
- Google Analytics and BigCommerce’s own analytics, to measure Website traffic and sales.
- YouTube and Vimeo, for embedded videos.
- Google Fonts and Font Awesome, to display text and icons.
- Links to our pages on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest. Those services collect information when you visit them.
- Google Ads, Google Merchant Center, the Meta Pixel, the TikTok Pixel, Microsoft Advertising and the OpenAI ads pixel, for remarketing and to measure ad results. See section 5.
5. Remarketing and interest-based advertising
We use remarketing and ad measurement services from Google (Google Ads, Google Analytics and Google Merchant Center), Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok, Microsoft Advertising (Bing) and OpenAI to show our ads to people who have visited the Website when they later use other websites and apps, and to measure whether our ads lead to visits and purchases. These services use cookies, pixels and similar technologies to recognize your browser or device, and they collect information such as the pages and products you viewed, items added to your cart, purchases, and when you visited. Each service handles this information under its own privacy policy.
Customer lists. We may also upload contact information of customers and people who have contacted us, such as email addresses and phone numbers, to advertising platforms such as Google (Customer Match) and Meta (Custom Audiences). The information is hashed (converted into a coded form) before it is matched, and the platforms use it only to match it to their users, show those people our ads or exclude them from our ads, and, on some platforms, to find people with similar interests. Under the platforms’ terms, they may not use it for other advertisers. To ask us to leave your information out of these uploads, contact us using the details in section 13. We do not sell your contact information.
You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ad Settings, Meta ad preferences, the ad settings in your TikTok account, Microsoft ad settings, the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Network Advertising Initiative. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Opting out does not stop you from seeing ads, but they will not be based on your visits to the Website.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your contact information. We share it only:
- With service providers that help us run our store and our business, such as our ecommerce platform, payment processors, shipping carriers, and email, messaging, review and affiliate providers. They may use it only to provide services to us.
- With advertising platforms such as Google and Meta, in hashed form, to show our ads to the right people, as described in section 5.
- With the manufacturer or supplier of a product you order from another brand, when needed to fill your order or handle a warranty claim.
- If required by law, court order or a government request, or to protect our rights, property or safety, or that of others.
- As part of a merger, sale or reorganization of our business, in which case this Privacy Policy will continue to apply to your information.
- With your consent.
7. Cookies and your choices
We and the services above use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your cart, measure traffic and show relevant ads. You can set your browser to refuse or delete cookies, but the cart, checkout, account and some other parts of the Website may not work properly without them. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.
8. How long we keep information
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including to fill orders, handle returns and warranty claims, keep business and tax records, and resolve disputes. You can close your account by contacting us.
9. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, to close your account, to stop sending you marketing emails or text messages, or to leave your information out of the customer lists we upload to advertising platforms, by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity. We may keep some information when the law requires it or when we need it for an order, return or warranty claim.
10. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, and our checkout uses encrypted connections. No website, internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, however, so please keep your account password private.
11. Children
The Website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above.
